Venezuelans, especially, are living in a world without a trusted third party.
That is the world that Hal “Satoshi Nakamoto” Finney thought might need a centralized immutable ledger. He was right. We live in that world already although most of us have a luxury to be distanced from the epicenter of those Venezuelan problems.
Most of us are fortunate enough to not live in that world assuming we’re in places that are significantly more stable for the time being. One day that could change. I don’t think most people want to believe that. They trust their government implicitly.
It reminds me of the Frank Zappa song “It can’t happen here” and I’m sure the buttcoin geniuses would love to tell me how wrong I am.
