[SERIOUS] The "crypto is dead" narrative is getting louder. Again. This is not the first time we have heard this, nor will it be the last. The truth is... crypto will be around for many years to come because:
The decentralized nature of (most) blockchains makes it hard for governments to block or stop them. Decentralized protocols are impossible to get geoblocked. There's no CEO to be arrested and told to pull the plug.
Even if a few governments made cryptocurrencies illegal in their countries, not all countries will follow suit. Some countries like to do the opposite of what other countries are doing. So there will always be a place for crypto somewhere in the world.
In the unlikely event that cryptocurrencies don't survive, at least the technology they have pioneered will outlive crypto. Blockchain technology will be useful in so many other spheres of life. NFTs, DAOs, and other technologies that were born from crypto will find their way into mainstream financial services.
Finally, I'm not a BTC maxi but there's a lot of lessons to be learnt from the network. Bitcoin is at the stage where it cannot be stopped. It doesn't have a known figurehead, no headquarters, no governance structure, no representatives. Some of the other cryptos might die because their figureheads could get arrested, killed, or banned from carrying out crypto activities. Therefore, those cryptos that will really be around for many years to come are those that are truly decentralized. The more a coin/token is decentralized, the higher the chances it will be around for a long time to come.
