Thoughts on Hookr.fun?

I’ve been looking into a pretty small project called Hookr lately and wanted to throw the thesis out here because there’s almost no discussion about it on Reddit right now.

For anyone who hasn’t followed Uniswap v4, one of the big changes with v4 is something called hooks. In really simple terms, hooks let developers add custom rules or behavior to a liquidity pool. So instead of every token launch basically using the same standard pool structure, you can build extra logic into how that market works. Things like anti-snipe mechanics, changing fees depending on market conditions, rewarding LPs differently, burning tokens automatically, adding custom incentives, etc.

That opens up a pretty interesting market in my opinion because now the pool itself can be programmable, and Hookr is basically trying to build a platform around that idea. The easiest way I would describe it is that it’s kind of a launchpad/marketplace for Uniswap v4 hooks. Someone launching a token can use Hookr to launch with different market mechanics already built into the pool instead of having to build all of that infrastructure themselves.

Right now it has things like anti-snipe rules, dynamic/surge fees, automated burns, LP rewards and a few other options. Where I think the thesis gets more interesting though is if Hookr moves beyond just offering its own hooks. If outside developers can build useful hooks and make them available through Hookr, then the platform could potentially become a place where projects go to find and use different types of programmable market infrastructure.

That’s the part I’m interested in, because if Uniswap v4 hooks become widely used, there is probably going to be some kind of discovery and distribution layer around them. Developers need somewhere to get their hooks in front of projects, and projects need an easy way to find and deploy hooks without building everything from scratch. Hookr seems to be trying to position itself in the middle of that.

Then you have the $HOOKR token itself. From what I understand, some platform activity can feed into HOOKR buybacks/burns, and HOOKR can also be used as a quote asset inside the ecosystem. So at least in theory, if more people use Hookr, there is a mechanism that connects some of that activity back to the token.

That’s really the investment thesis for me. I’m not interested in it just because it’s a low-cap token and might pump. The bet is that Uniswap v4 hooks become a meaningful part of DeFi, and Hookr manages to become one of the places where those hooks are discovered, deployed and used.

If that happens, then the platform could potentially have some network effects. More developers building useful hooks gives projects more reasons to use Hookr, and more projects using Hookr gives developers more reasons to build there. More activity on the platform would also potentially create more utility around HOOKR itself.

Obviously there are a lot of ways this can fail. The biggest one is just that nobody uses the platform. If developers don’t build there, projects don’t launch there, or some much larger platform ends up owning the hook marketplace/distribution layer, then the thesis probably goes nowhere. There’s also still a lot I’d want to see on the security/auditing side because this is all pretty new infrastructure.

The reason I think it’s worth watching though is that there already seems to be more trading infrastructure around HOOKR than actual discussion about the project. MEXC has already listed it and moved it from Meme+ into the Innovation Zone, LBank has spot and perpetuals, and it’s already doing meaningful trading volume, but there is still almost no discussion about the project here on Reddit.

That doesn’t mean it’s undervalued by itself, but I do think the setup is interesting. To me, the question is basically this: if Uniswap v4 hooks become a big market, does Hookr have a real chance to become an important distribution layer for them, or is this the type of product that gets copied instantly by larger DeFi platforms once the market proves itself?

I already own HOOKR, so I’m obviously biased here. I’m mainly interested in hearing from people who understand Uniswap v4 better than I do and seeing where the thesis might be wrong.
