Yes, but they do not care: At the beginning of the COVID 19 pandemic, senators sold stock following receiving secret briefings affecting the stock market. The market crashed just short after they sold.

The consequences?

No charges were brought against anyone and all investigations into the matter are closed.

Through the whole year of 2021, senators have traded stocks while receiving secret information affecting their trades.

With Crypto all transactions would be visible to everyone, in real time. Everyone could monitor the trades done by their elected officials in real time.

Ironic that the same politicians who fight against Crypto are the ones defending their insider trading.
