We don't need fiat to die, we need banks to embrace blockchain tech and de-fi philosophy.

Seriously the sub is flooding with articles that fiat is dying, cash is going extinct and so on. A large percent of the population is aged and grew up with cash. To achieve massive adoption we need EVERYONE on board. And that cannot happen by destroying all other forms of money. Much like an altcoin co-exists with another altcoin , a form of currency can co-exist with another form of currency.

Hence I am amazed as an accountant that 80% of my 50+ years old clients do not even have e-mails. The 20% that do are managed by their sons / daughters. Those people need to be educated firstly on tech and safety, and then be introduced into crypto. This takes time and can't be enforced within few months. That's why El Salvador's rush could do more harm than good. Time will tell.

Once the general population is ready we can discuss privacy, anonymity and freedom. Fast transactions with limited fees in a banking system that runs 24/7, with lower energy costs and so on.
