What the Vitalik hacker got wrong and fumbled the bag

So we know Vitalik got hacked, not shocking that a twitter account was hijacked but was definitely shocking that it was Vitalik. Not on the bingo card. I believe that the hacker ended up getting away with under $200k last i checked? Less than a million. A solid days work no doubt but like…what?

This is the crypto version of Elon’s account getting hacked, the amount of insane power that was wielded for a few moments is remarkable and was squandered no doubt. It goes to show that maybe these scammers have more tech literacy than the average user but these people are not smart. I’ll paint you a picture:

You are now the hacker successfully in control of Vitalik’s account

1. You put every cent at ur disposal, maybe even taking out a loan, and max leverage short on any non-KYC exchange (whichever u find sufficiently liquid). Doesnt have to be $1B, enough to live your life off the grid and successfully offramp. Maybe open multiple accounts in different exchanges to minimize freeze risk and avoid sanctions.

2. You tweet (X post?) as Vitalik something bearish, but polite as he often does. Hes critical of Ethereum often and has more than enough $ so not that ludicrous. Examples:

”I have decided to resign from Ethereum as i no longer see a viable solution to sufficiently scale the network”

”I’ll be liquidating my personal Ethereum holdings to donate to charity. World peace is the end goal after all”

No phish required, no obvious links, no website traceability, just a few words without “hey mate i see you need help with your wallet please provide seed phrase”

1. Immaculate dump, short positions filled and you profit minimum millions. Does it look like insider trading or were you just mega bearish? Maybe you just thought ETH would go to $1k? Now you take your profits and spread them through various mixers or swaps or monero or burner wallets etc and wash away your steps.

2. Fly to Bali and party with 3AC and other crypto crooks. Doesnt have to be Bali, could be another non-extradition country like Dubai or Maldives. Live guilt free without having to drain anyones wallet or life savings, just some exchange that was probably going to go bankrupt anyways.

Sometimes you have to go off the playbook if you wanna make it big, no risk no reward.
