I stopped investing in stocks, particularly in the US, for my retirement plan when my broker compelled me to liquidate my holdings. This decision arose because they no longer accept clients from my country due to its placement on the FATF grey list
That gave me an idea: what if we had an asset that is borderless and censorship-resistant, capable of hedging against fiat currency? Sure, Bitcoin might not offer dividends or possess financial fundamentals, but it embodies the sound money principles of gold, serving as a hedge
I mean, we're all investing to hedge at least the inflation rate, right?
I've been DCA my way down since 2021 and up to this current price and it came to a point that 95% of my wealth is in Bitcoin now, the rest is 8 months of emergency fund.
I was thinking to sell some of it after the halving to buy some real estate but I don't have time to manage it. Aside from that, I love my work. I was thinking to diversify to REITs just to get some dividends but I don't know. I used to be 100% r/Bogleheads but international brokers doesn't allow me or the risk of force liquidation happens again.
Would love to hear your thoughts.
To add: My netwoth is roughly around $97k and I'm only renting so I have no house as an equity. Most of my liquid net worth is in Bitcoin and cash. The rest is savings, for emergency purposes. I would understand that 95% BTC would be more absurd if your NW is $1m+
