What's Better: Investing in New Alt Coins or Holding Older Ones

Be warned, this is very much an 'all about the money and not the tech' post

In preparation of alt coin season I have been contemplating what to buy, I see many alts in green while the ones I have been holding since the last Bull remain in red.

When it comes to alt coins, a huge chunk of the price action comes from hype.

And anyone who has been on this sub long enough has seen plenty of posts calculating the profits from top 100 coins at the beginning of crypto to now.

if memory serves right, only a few alt coins that were in the top 100, 5 years ago still persist there today.

In light of such circumstances, I see people rave about holding Matic, Ada, etc. And don't get me wrong, I hold a small bag of both, but how can you be sure that these coins won't fade to time despite their current popularity?

We are already seeing previously trusted coins such as Sol and Algo falling from the sky. So who is to say that the ones we like right now won't suffer the same fate despite how good they are?

Look at LTC, despite being better at what btc does, it's still in the shadows. Yes, there is speculation that it'll go up after its halving in August but no one is betting on it beating btc.

My point is, being better in crypto often means very little in relation to price.

So, here comes the title. If alt coins are all about the hype, is newer better? Not to hold but to obtain aggressive profits?

Obviously, it might be like finding a needle in a haystack, and I am not saying jump on hype trains and buy anything with AI or Elon in it in hopes to make a profit.

But doing research on new coins and investing in them could be an option.

At least these are my thoughts, what do you guys think? Old or New?
