I am not saying BTC went mainstream anywhere except El Salvador, but at least in America and some select Asian cities (Dubai, Singapore, Hong Kong) you can hear people putting money in it, at least as a speculative asset if nothing else. So many even dare to short it, which is okay, as it gives the market some liquidity and activity.
You can also find merchants, boutique hotels, cafes accepting bitcoin, some bitcoin ATMs, and exchanges offering bitcoin backed cards etc.
But in Europe, half the people seem barely aware of the concept of bitcoin, even the word is totally new to so many.
Why this? Does it indicate ignorance? Or does it indicate Europeans enjoy so much trust in their financial instiutions, central bank and economy that they look down on anyone buying bitcoin?
