I understand we want ETH to be classified as a commodity, which means the SEC doesn’t have the ability to regulate it. Why? I don’t mind if exchanges have more paperwork requirements and the SEC is able to stop things like insider trading.
EDIT: In 2018, SEC declared ETH a non-security. In April 2022, CFTC re-affirmed ETH is a non-security commodity.
My question remains: why is it better for ETH to be regulated as a commodity rather than a security?
