Will cryptocurrency give Putin and Russia a way to circumvent economic sanctions?

It’s somewhat possible the talking heads that determine these sanctions may not have considered cryptocurrency as a way for Putin to get around the sanctions.

The recent Canadian case where they tried to order BTC wallets frozen shows there is still a gross misunderstanding of how cryptocurrency works in these types of circles.

I realize sanctions will still have an impact and prevent many companies doing business. The Russian people will be squeezed hard.

But wont it be relatively simple for Putin and his Oligarch friends to use cryptocurrency as a way to get around many of the economic sanctions?
