Can we trust that the switch to Eth 2.0 will be done only when all ducks are in a row?

I am seeing so much pressure on various forums to get the switch done ASAP, and I was wondering if anyone understands the process enough to reassure us the switch will only be done when it can be implemented successfully…? Even if that means delaying deadlines? I trust Vitalik but in the end don’t know him and can only imagine the stress of the whole team
