First rule of Crypto needs to be “don’t trust anyone who messages you”

It’s the same story every single time. Someone messages you on Reddit, instagram, Facebook, Twitter, etc. Sometimes the conversations are innocent for months until crypto comes up. I don’t know why this needs to be said but don’t trust random people on the internet especially when money is involved. Doesn’t matter if they want to offer you advice, want to be your friend (they don’t), it’s some hot person (lol right), and whatever else scam there is. You need to keep in mind that crypto is a godsend for scammers and con artists.

You need to also understand a lot of scammers hate you for your privilege of being able to live in a first world country. They think you’re stupid and undeserving. They feel morally justified in robbing you of your hard earned money. They are also more tech savvy than you are as evidenced by smart contracts, bots, and fake coins.

Wherever there is money to be made, you will find people trying to exploit others and justifying it as some heroic gesture
