Have I already gone past the opportunity?

I'm not new to the concept of crypto currency however I also haven't invested in it yet it always seemes to be too risky to get involved in. I have been thinking of investing lately but haven't been confident enough. Any suggestions? I followed the market for the past two weeks and I've found that there has been exponential increase in the value of few of the coins, is it due to war? Will there be a dip to buy again? Or will it continue to show the upwards trend? Also apart from the high end coins like Bitcoin, ethereum and other popular coins what would be a good reliable buy?
