Have MOONS changed your commenting habits?
Not so long ago MOONS didn't exist and there really were only intrinsic motivations to comment or post here (i.e. a genuine desire to seek information, share your own views, or a warm fuzzy feeling from improving a thread or providing useful information). Nowadays there is at least some extrinsic motivation (i.e. MOONS can be earned and traded for cold hard cash). Has this changed your commenting habits?
I admit it does influence my behavior a little. I comment a little bit more now. In particular, sometimes I'll come up with a slightly snarky comment as a joke, type it up, and then think "eh, this doesn't really add to the conversation, and if the op doesn't get my sense of humor they might kind of feel bad." In the past I would almost certainly then just turn off my phone and not post my prepared comment, but now that I realize my stupid comment could earn that sweet sweet moon money I'll usually go ahead and post it.
Going a bit further down the rabbit hole, does it influence whether you choose to upvote something? There are a limited number of moons rewarded each cycle, so in a sense by upvoting someone else you're (very sightly) taking away from the number of moons you would get. This isn't something I've thought about before, and I think the effect is small so that it probably doesn't change the overall voting behavior, but I'm curious if anyone else has been thinking about it in such a greedy/cynical way. So let me know what you think!
