How I lost a gen 3 avatar while attempting to trade for moons - a reminder to not trust strangers that text you here

There was this post earlier where a lot of people here seemed excited about the possibility of buying avatars with moons at the potential reddit marketplace so I commented the following.

I sense a lot of people are excited about the possibility of buying avatars with moons on the marketplace so I'll give this a shot.

Would anyone be interested in buying Geoffrey The Eye #775 for moons? It's the cheapest (~ $5) mint price collectible that I wouldn't mind exchanging for some moons at their current prices. 20 moons would be a fair starting point for a bid I suppose if anyone wants to spend their moons.

I can transfer the avatar first, no scam intent haha. Just to see if someone would actually prefer to exchange for moons since most of them in the vault here are earned I'm guessing and not bought.

Also looking at it as a fairly easy way for me to get some moons instead of the bridging hoops I'd have to go through otherwise.

This could possibly be the first exchange of gen 3 for moons, something I'd love to transact. Any opening bids?

After a 20 moons opening bid on the original comment, I reposted this on the daily. u/shadycryptoguy was interested in the avatar and texted me after which we reached a deal for 35 moons. I felt comfortable sending it across since his profile history didn't seem suspicious despite that name, and he seemed pleasant in his interaction unlike most scammers here. Confirmed his address with him, sent it across and shared the transaction details with him for verification.

He then doesn't respond for a while only to share this song later to convey 'got no way to prove it so maybe i'm lying' lol and ends up ghosting after that.

35 moons obviously ain't that big a deal but it ruined the fun I was hoping to have trading an avatar for moons and it pinches to see the eye #775 on his profile even though I could mint another.

The intent of sharing this is to remind that there are loads of malicious people out there who target and text users on this sub quite often. I'd never have thought I'd fall prey to one of them but I did, and getting newbies in their trap must be even easier for these manipulative scammers. Beware out there (newbies especially) and it'd be safe to presume that anyone texting you with regard to anything you posted/commented in this sub or regarding crypto is likely a scammer.

Also shows how important smart-contract escrow services are to facilitate P2P setups.

If any scammer's reading this, please get yourselves out of your rooms and get a job. You can't keep scamming people all your life for a living and are gonna start hating yourself too sooner or later.

Edit - u/shadycryptoguy reached out a couple hours after I posted this saying he's sorry and realises his mistake, and is here on this post. Please don't downvote him to hell guys. He also sent the avatar to u/cutsickass. This was likely the first gen 3/moons p2p exchange on here and turned out to be quite a dramatic one indeed! Couldn't have been more indicative of the good and bad aspects of this space and this sub.
