I try to get a Dogecoin solo mining setup to run (mainly for learning purposes) on an old PC with Windows 10. I chose bfgminer over cgminer because I don't want to utilize the GPU feature.
The whole thing seems to be more complicated then expected. I found this thread that points to the latest release of bfgminer version 5.5 and also a stable release 4.10.6 - the stable release link is not working. So I'm going with the latest release.
Running the executalbe on my Windows machine returns no response nor an error. I neither get a response for the following command lines like
bfgminer.exe -v bfgminer.exe -h bfgminer.exe --help
and so on. I also tried running the executable with the required arguments pointing to the node - from the docs:
bfgminer.exe -o http://127.0.0.1:8332 -O user:password --generate-to fo
With no success, meaning: No error or no feedback returned.
The full node for Dogecoin is up an running on the local machine and configured for RPC access with a user and a password.
When looking for a guidance I stumble over a couple of affiliate posts, e.g. this old thread on bitcoin.stackexchange.com with some dead links but no solution. Mostly I land on some affiliate pages talking about pros and cons of mining or some reddit posts where OP is being educated about the sense of mining - with no further technical support.
I got no more docs to read, no log output or any other kind of response. So any help here is pretty much appreciated.
Thank you!
