I'm Afraid to Take BTC to a Cold Storage

I'm into crypto since 2016 but never moved crypto from exhcnages.

Reasons are: I don't know how to do that. It sounds too complicated to me.

Also, I'm afraid to lost my BTC. When I try to withdraw it to a cold storage and BTC "stuck" in between, nobody is going to help me. Also, if I manage to move it to a cold storage, nobody is going to help me if something happens in the mean time.

If my cold storage brokes for some reason, who's going to help me? What if Ledger, let's say, stops working like any other USD device that can defunct at any time.

For me, its too much risk to have significant amounts on cheap devices and also not having any type of support that can assist.

I have my crypto on a few exchanges and whenever I had any issues, their support teams helped me quickly.

Still, I'm very aware that what I'm doing is not smart and would like to change my mind.
