I’m being blackballed from buying crypto

… and I have no idea why. Long post, but I’m going to try to give as much information as possible so someone might be able to help me out.

About a week ago I put in my regular order for BTC on Coinbase. No issues.

A couple days ago when BTC dipped I went to buy more (my strike price would’ve been perfect), but the website asked for me to enter my payment method. I had it saved so that was weird, but ok. I checked the payment methods and found that my info was still there. I deleted it and reentered, then went back to the buy screen. Once again, it was asking for me to enter my payment info. Once again, it was still there, just not available on the buy screen.

I contacted customer support and was told there is a security lock on my account (why didn’t they just say that instead of being sketchy about it?) and they needed to do an account review. I was told also told “for the security of our users and accounts, we are not able to provide specific information regarding how this determination was made."

Then also: “Please note: that we can't guarantee a change to your current account status, and any decision based on our review will be final. For security reasons, we're also not able to provide additional information about this account review. We also don't have an estimated time when the review is completed." Ok, whatever, I’ll just do my business elsewhere.

I moved over to crypto(dot)com and tried to make the purchase there. At the final window after processing the payment the notification “rejected” came up. I tried again, same thing. I contacted my bank and they said there was no issue on their end, they sent the funds and a minute later the funds were returned. My statement reflect. They suggested waiting a day then trying again.

So now the price is going back up from what I wanted (bummer), but I still wanted to buy some more. I tried on both coinbase and crypto and got the same issues. Can’t find a way to contact crypto(dot)com customer service, and there’s no useful help articles.

So, I can’t buy crypto.

I’d try again with another exchange but I’m curious what the hell is going on and why I can’t buy. Any advice?

Edit: checked again today, and tried to pull the BTC from my transaction two days ago out of coinbase… and my account is restricted from sending crypto. Am I about to be robbed protected by these f*ckers my diligent and civil-serving law enforcement agency?

Edit: I’ll keep the updates here so people can avoid my same mistakes. The general idea so far is that I made two purchases within a couple hours of each other that totaled just under $10,000, which could have flagged in the feds system as structuring to avoid tax inquiry. The boys in blue are likely doing an investigation right now to see what’s up. Given I haven’t done anything illegal, this should be cleared up with time. Again, I’ll let you fine folks know when I know.
