The only way for me to get BTC at that time was via a Lamassu BTM, so I had to buy it, transfer it to an online wallet, and then go buy my stuff from Adafruit and send the exact amount to them. Any spare change, I sent to another address. Did that two separate times.
And then . . . 2021 happened! And I was able to cash out that spare change for more than what I paid for the electronics!
If I hadn't bought that stuff back in 2014, I wouldn't have had as much BTC to cash out. And today, BTC is still only about 70% of what I cashed out at, so I'm still well ahead no matter how you look at it.
Whining about "omg I spent some bitcoin and now it's worth more, waaaaaaaah!" is stupid. You could easily get run over by a truck tomorrow and be nothing but a smear on the pavement, and then your family would probably have zero clue how to deal with your weird nerd cash.
Not even mentioning that if people don't use BTC in the real-world economy, then it ends up as nothing more than a failed nerd game.
Live your lives while you have them, people.
