Is BTC only as good as SHA-256? (Quantum Computing & Post-Quantum Cryptography)

TL;DR: Is BTC only as good as SHA-256? And could we change the code to upgrade to a Post-Quantum Crypto Algorithm?

I believe in the rapid and exponential advancement of technology.

What took up an entire building 50 years ago, pales in comparison to what fits in my pocket today.

Do you think that when people were riding horses around they could imagine the Model S Plaid? That would be unfathomable to them. 0-60 in 1.98 seconds?

Now, with that being said, would it be that hard to believe that in 50-100 years Quantum Computing could at best pose a minor security risk to SHA-256 and at worst render the BTC network useless?

There is plenty of work going into post-quantum algorithms.

Could we vote to upgrade the code from SHA-256 to a post-quantum crypto algorithm when the time comes?

And won't this keep happening over the next 100-200 years as computing and AI advances?

Since BTC's main purpose and feature is security, won't the network's algorithms continually need to be upgraded to maintain it's purpose?
