How come withdrawing via Lightning on Kraken is basically free? Don't you have to pay for an on chain transaction when opening a lightning channel? Would it be cheaper if I withdraw my btc from Kraken via lightning first and then put those btc from my lightning wallet in an on chain transaction to my HW wallet where I decide the transaction fee myself?
I realize that I don't really understand the Lightning network that well. Especially opening and closing channels.
EDIT:
1) If btc is successfully showing up in your lightning wallet, is there any risk that you could lose them later? Is there a sense of urgency to transfer them to a btc wallet with an on chain transaction?
