If you have any money or cryptocurrency on deposit at bitstamp exchange, it may be at risk, and you should consider withdrawing it.
In 1 month they are introducing a policy that charges a monthly fee to inactive accounts (those that haven't recently traded/deposited).
The business model appears to be to drain small accounts that the owners aren't regularly interacting with, transferring the deposited money over a period of a couple of years into BitStamp's assets.
In my opinion it is unethical to apply this fee to any money that was deposited before the fee existed. Personally I'm closing my account with them as they can no longer be described as a safe custodian of funds or cryptocurrency.
