When i read about bitcoin back in 2009-2011 i read about a coin that you could mine basically for free just with an internet connection. Why can’t you do that anymore? What happened to that? Why did it become so much harder to mine bitcoin? Because there are less available to mine?
Also in the 2011-2013 era with Silk Road being very big the used bitcoin as a payment system. And back then bitcoin was this special new internet currency which was untraceable, but it’s is traceable now? Why was it untraceable back then and not anymore?
Could the fact that bitcoin gained so much popularity over the years (especially after 2018) make it less “special” in the ways I mentioned?
I’ve always found bitcoin fascinating and cool, the fact that it’s an internet currency that is against inflation and could easily be used as a alternative currency for countries with massive inflation like Argentina is crazy.
Just a random guy and the internet. Peace.
