What's the point of all these dead project still existing?

I don’t understand how there are still projects that hold little to no value anymore, yet they continue to exist. Take PIVX, for example (it’s just the first one that came to mind). Are there still people actively working on these so-called "dead projects," or have they completely abandoned them? If no one is maintaining them, why do these coins still have any value? Is it just speculation, or are there hidden factors keeping them afloat? Also, which other dead projects come to your mind? There are coins which used to have functionality, now they are just there doing nothing.

I really need someone to explain me these. Please no chatgpt answers, I can do it on my self. I want to know from someone maybe who has been in crypto for a long time!
