When did you realise that you had to get into crypto and how did you feel?

As is the case for most of us, we didn’t come into crypto as early as we would have liked to.

2009 marked the birth of our beloved BTC and I’m sure we all remember hearing snippets of this new internet currency and didn’t think too much of it. “It’s just pretend, it has no real value” we would think and hear…

As the years rolled by there was more and more talk of this pretend money, big names started discussing it on panel shows, celebrities would mention they had invested and news articles were being produced. Still, surely this crypto is nothing more than a fad right?

Further along, Bitcoin is dominating the web and news during periods on hype. Your friends are even talking about it but still you have your reservations but decide at last it’s time to figure out what this is really about.

For me, even though I’d heard about Bitcoin in around 2012 and wanted to look into it, I didn’t really have any spare money or the motivation so I didn’t look too much into it. The thing that actually got me into crypto was when my Dad (a taxi driver) told me about a conversation he’d had with one of his clients. Axie Infinity he said (back in late 2020) was apparently earning this guy £1000 a month, some kind of crypto game?

I had to get in on that! I love games and I love money!

So I went home and did some research. Finally discovering wallets, blockchains, NFTs, staking and centralised exchanges. Sure, it went to shit, I couldn’t have joined at a worse time. But that’s what bull markets do, spread like wildfire and everyone hears about the gains. The money flows in…

I was really excited and happy I’d finally taken the time to get involved. Sure I wish I’d done things differently but it probably wouldn’t have happened any other way for me, I needed that relationship between gaming and money to pull me into the world.

When did you guys bite the bullet? What prompted you to give it a go and by what method did you hear about it? And what were your reservations?
