A Tie to the Past or a Bet on a Pessimistic Future?

Bitcoin’s Proof of Work connects us to the past—an immutable record of energy, effort, and time spent. It’s grounded in something tangible, a symbol of permanence and certainty. In contrast, our debt-based monetary system pushes us into the future, driven by the promises of return, growth, and the assumption that tomorrow will always be better.

Here’s where my personal stance might seem contradictory: I’m buying Bitcoin, but with the expectation that it won’t ever achieve widespread adoption. Why? Because if Bitcoin remains on the fringes, it could signal that the world is taking a more pessimistic turn—one where we’re retreating from a future of uncertain promises and instead seeking refuge in the stability of the past.

In essence, Bitcoin would become a symbol of our collective desire to anchor ourselves in something certain, something real, in a world that increasingly feels driven by speculation, debt, and unfulfilled promises.
